Buckwheat, etc.

I’m experimenting with green manure, plants that I can supposedly grow easily and then till into the soil to help it regain some nutrients that are lacking largely because our whole yard is made of sand. We are slowly layering compost over everything, but in the meantime we work with what we have and grow in sections with concentrated compost.

Peas are planted along the back fence, beans will be transplanted along the front fence, tomatoes are everywhere, and those pumpkins are getting huge. There is also a sweet strawberry plant, lemon balm, broccoli, jalapeños, lettuces or various kinds, oregano, thyme, basil, coriander, a pinepple plant, onions, carrots, & cranberry beans. Mind you most of these are still seeding and nothing has borne fruit or veggies respectively, but we are excited and hopefully for spring 🙂
